America began in 1776 with the philosophies of individual rights and the right of revolution to "institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness". In December 1865 it evolved further when Abraham Lincoln ended slavery and the words "All men are created equal..." became more pronounced and true.
