Meet the Super Mixxers (Brad0022)

Tags: brad0022, meetthesupermixxers, supermixxers

What can someone say about Brad, except...this cat is all over the place. His interests seem to vary on Mixx and that's what makes him one of the most well rounded Super Mixxers around. From celebrity gossip to Vaginas with teeth you can find Brad0022 almost anywhere on Mixx.com.  So let's find out a little more about Brad, and what makes him tick... Where are you from? In Montgomery, Ala. and currently reside. Yes that Montgomery. The one where Luther Leonidas Hill, M. D. was the first surgeon to successfully suture the human heart in 1902. And some various other historic events  such as the DC Snipers, they tried to rob a liquor store here. Oh yea Civil Rights, Wright Brothers, Civil War, etc. I have a love/hate relationship with this city. What do you do for a living? I work at a design agency and do some freelance design. How did you choose your Mixx handle? No profound answer just a lazy whatever name. I couldnt really think of a good creative name so I just used this. Yea that's lame but Im not as creative with words as I am with visual arts. What are your interests? Finding good music new and old, going to shows (recently saw ...

Meet the Super Mixxers (Tau_Zero)

Tags: supermixxers, Tau_Zero

In the third installment of our "Meet the Super Mixxers" series, I had to go with my man Tau_Zero. Our forums on the bowl are generally full of hilarity and good times. Sometimes a ton of seriousness as well. Let's just say the first few forums posts by Tau REALLY got our attention. He has excellent submissions and is a real laid back, light-hearted guy. Where are you from? I was born and bred in the great state of New Jersey. Currently I live in Central (yes, it does exist), where it's not overrun by NYCers or South Jersey hicks. Contrary to popular belief, NJ is not all industrial parks and guidos. Where does your handle come from? My high school physics teacher was very enthusiastic and absolutely loved the subject. Being a huge nerd, he would tell us of good science fiction books, movies, and whatnot. "Tau Zero" by Poul Anderson was one of them. Essentially, their starship drive is stuck in 'accelerate.' As they begin to approach the speed of light, they must deal with the relativistic effects and what it means for them as people. "Tau Zero" also sounds cool. What are your interests? I have a ...

Meet the Super Mixxers (YankeeJim)

Meet Super Mixxer YankeeJim. I have to say the day that Jim came to Mixx, the lot of us were highly impressed with his comments and his views.  He grabbed our attention right away and we instantly knew he would fit right in. Jim is an extremely brilliant man with a passion for poetry, writing, and painting. If you are looking for a highly intelligent debate or discussion, look no further than Jim. We had a few questions for Jim, and he was more than happy to answer: Where are you from? I grew up in North Central Ohio and lived in Columbus, Cleveland, and Dayton. My memoir is posted at http://www.webook.com called Patchwork And So Forth. What do you for a living? I am consultant to government and a writer, poet, and painter. My beat is Information Literacy and I am completing a book for Wiley Publishing called Smart Data, Enterprise Performance Optimization Strategy due out in July. What do you do in your spare time? (hobbies) I hike 5 miles a day, paint, and MIXX like a Wildman. What do you like best about Mixx? I enjoy debating smart people with points of view that are opposite my own. I find the opposition and I also find ...

Meet the Super Mixxers (Kat136)

Tags: Kat136, supermixxers

Our very first SuperMixxer in the Meet the Super Mixxers series is our own Georgia Peach Kat136. Kat is a very charming lady to get to know, and it has been a joy to meet her on Mixx.com .  She joined our forums on Mixxingbowl.com and made a great impression. Her submissions are carefully selected and she wastes no time commenting on submissions that are important to her. Her views are highly respected among her peers and she cares deeply for the Mixx community. When not on Mixx Kat is a Copywriter and a Proof reader. In her own words "I basically turn Spanglish into English." Kat is a Southern Belle who claims to have never dated any of her cousins. Her Pet Cause: Food Banks She can both read and write and also cipher a little. She has all her teeth. She gets lots of "hot Chick" submission shares and feels morally obligated to judge them. She can not stand Lionel Hutz. You can find Kat on Mixx.com and on the Mixxingbowl forums.

Fire at will!

I thought I would take some time to basically put this out there. Mixx users, we are watching. When I say "we" I mean SuperMixxers. Now before I make this sound like some rant you would hear from the group "Anonymous" , I need everyone to understand something. SuperMixxers are upstanding community members who have been given special privileges at the hands of Mixx.com administration. That being said, we are not a bury brigade, nor do we troll for our own personal gain. We have busted our butts along with the good people at Mixx.com to make our community work. One of the most important tools we have been given is, unlimited reporting. Here is the reason why, Mixx.com administrator cannot be everywhere at once. Nor can they see 100% of the material being submitted to Mixx. SuperMixxers play a key roll here, if we see something off color, violates TOS or anything completely unacceptable, we report it. Here is where my anti bury brigade proof comes in, SuperMixxers do not select thier own kind. This is done via algorithm. Since we do not know the algo, and we have no say, we are not all aligned. I have had issues ...

Sifting through it all.

Tags: Mixx, Sifter

So Mixx has launched the Sifter! Now some of the Power Mixxers and Super Mixxers might wonder what this feature is all about, or why they should even participate. Well I'll tell you why. Once again Chris and Company have given you the user, the power to control the site. I mean, seriously who wants to see some boring ads on the sight. With the Sifter, you get to choose what ads are put on Mixx. Not only does this give you more say-so, you can also when prizes through participation. You could win a gift certificate or even a computer. That's right! You get entered in a drawing to win Mac Book, how cool is that? This isn't the first time a Mixx user has won a Mac Book, user Tau Zero won a Mac Book during the Mixx Loyal User Sweepstakes.  So Mixx both encourages and rewards it's users for getting involved. So now that you have these chances to win, what are you waiting for? If you are a Super Mixxer or a Power Mixxer, get in there and use the Sifter, you could be the next winner! Now if you do not have Super Mixxer or Power Mixxer status ...

Farewell Fine Mixxers/Mixxingbowlers.

We would like to apologize to our loyal readers/listeners who have provided us so much support since we first went online in November 2007.  However after a couple of phone calls we, Joe (SilentJay74), cGt2099 (Greg Davies), and Brian (Bdog2g2) have all decided to hang up our blogging and podcasting hats at the Mixxingbowl.com and Social-Blend.com. We can certainly say that its been a blast,  however with the recession and lack of real revenue (Adsense sucks), the Mixxingbowl and Social Blend have become a financial burden. We had hoped all the work with the re-branding and splitting the sites into two had helped, but unfortunately not enough. This week we plan to record our last podcast and reminisce on the good times.  Hell, we may even get Joe completely shit-faced and see what happens. Stay tune for future updates since we may make the last show a live Ustream broadcast. Again, thanks for all the support. The Crew.

[display_podcast] Our first regular episode of the “Digg-free zone” year of 2009 is here, and we jump into the blend with our special guest, Jason Garber from Mixx, who talks to us about his band, his photography, and of course, Mixx! Brian Hill aka Bdog2g2 also joins us later in the show, as we start asking Jason questions asked by SuperMixxers.  Later we talk about the epic lulz resulting from the recent Twitter Hackings, as well as quick discussion about the new Jones’ Big Ass Truck Rental and Storage video from BigDogEatChild. Jason’s stories of the week include the hysterical appeal from the Porn Industry for a financial bailout, and the interesting article highlighting that Stonehenge was nothing more than a venue for medieval ravers.  Jay goes with the devil down to Georgia, and Greg does the pipeline while obsessing over Doctor Who. Meanwhile, Brian gives crap to Greg (indeed all Aussies also) with the story about the angry wife who killed her husband by setting his genitals on fire.  Yeeowtch!  Our Community Focus this week is the new Doctor Who and Torchwood Related community, and our user focus is MWilton13. Our Band of the Week is GENERALS & MAJORS – enjoy! Presented by Greg Davies ...

Social Blend 51: Looking Back at 2008

[display_podcast] Happy New Year to you all!  2009 has hit us like a ton of bricks, and Social Blend is getting bigger and better! Following our BEST OF 2008 Compilation, we jump into the new year announcing that 2009 will be a "Digg-free zone" for Social Blend.  That’s right, after this episode, we will not be giving Kevin Rose and Digg any more attention. I say, "After this episode", because in the 51st edition of Social Blend, we take a look back at the events of 2008 – both within Mixx and around the world. For this special episode we’re joined by Number 1 SuperMixxer, KatharineC; and we also have the outstanding RobDiana with us, as well as the GHOST RIDER himself: Brian Hill aka Bdog2g2. Our next episode, SB52, will have us back on track and kicking forward with our usual segments. Presented by Greg Davies (cGt2099 from The-TrukstoP.com) and Jay Fowler (SilentJay74 from JuicySnake.com) the Social Blend is a fun, and hard-hitting, podcast, with no respect for rules.  We try to make the main focus of the show to be Mixx.com, and other social media sites; but we usually just end up talking about whatever comes to mind!  Show Links – Looking Back at ...
