So I bounced this idea off of a few people and we thought it best to bring this up in the bowl to see what the community thinks.

I am proposing we ask Mixx to create new levels of Mixxers. Lets say we have 3.

Level 1: Super Mixxers (Not that hard to obtain but still retain abilities)
Level 2: Master Mixxer Apprentice (Must be accepted by a Master Mixxer to learn from. Apprentices must show beyond
and during a monthly selection board that they can become Master Mixxers. Apprentices must be outstanding
community citizens and prove they have the best interest of the community at heart. If a Apprentice acts up
their karma and karma of the Mixx Master sponsoring said apprentice is docked by 1000.
Level 3: Master Mixxer. Master Mixxers have more powers than Super Mixxers, they could have the ability to hide a
submission and the Mixx crew review it before taking it down. Now if a Master MIxxer goes rouge his karma
is docked by 5000 each time and he gain strike against him. 3 strike and you lose status. Strike will be displayed
to offer transparency to other users. Also "With great power comes great responsibility." Master Mixxers may end
up getting trolled by other Mixx users as being mods of a sort. So if you fit the qualifications to become a Master
Mixxer then you have the choice to either "Accept" or "Deny". If the user clicks accept then you get an "Are you
sure?" splash screen. Master Mixxers will have to be pillars of the community and can hold each other accountable. Super Mixxers can also flag Master Mixxer submissions as Spam for review by Mixx crew.

Any thoughts?

How many times did you watch the Star Wars Trilogy while mapping this out?

Actually none. This idea started taking place between Reg and I then I bounced it off Chris McGill and Brian.

Definitely like the idea of different Mixxer Levels. Fully support it!

I'll write more later, I have lunch to eat and then have to head back in to work.

This is what I thought of as well.  *facepalm*
That said, I think it's a good idea to have levels of mixxers like that, and to have "training".  It would definately be different and would set Mixx apart in the quality of participants they are looking for.

Ok time for my input on this, now that I'm actually able to do so.

I really like the idea and at first I was concerned about spammers, blind voters, etc becoming Mixx Masters. But as I read on I saw the solution to demoting those people. Now besides having the ability to mark stories as breaking or being able to hide a submission for review, I have one idea that just might fit.

I suggested it in the Mixx Suggestions section and I think it could work out.

My most recent suggestion was a recommendation feature for "Mixxers Like You". My biggest concern about my suggestion was being recommended spammers, blind voters, etc. Instead of it being that users get recommended standard users, they get recommended Apprentices and Mixx Masters? I would see this as a way of showing the Mixx Community examples of quality users, quality submissions etc.

It was just a thought and building off of my original concept on to yours Joe.

I have to say I like this idea. Especially as someone has to let you be their apprentice first, so you shouldn't get spammers.

*Yawn*

...

*reads thread*

Damn, it's April 1st already?

Just kidding. It's good. I'm just worried that the requirements become too arbitrary that it not only creates less interest for people to gain SuperMixxer status, it's too few options to gain the attention of the Social Media grinders.

You know how it is with forums and mmorpgs, you give a new badge and people want more. I'm worried that this idea might open the floodgates where another social media copies the idea with a few more badges and turns it into some sort of cool geek cred feature while another social media goes back to the old one status model gained from a few people feeling that nothing was wrong with the original concept and that this is Mixx's way of either diluting the usefulness of the status to generate more interest or their own acknowledgement that they aren't able to cope with moderating who gets to become a SuperMixxer thus opening them to more criticism on how the idea wasn't working well enough from other social media users.

That is what this forum thread is for, add to the original idea and make it better.

THing is with Super Mixxer status they would still keep thier abilities. Also you would have to already be a Super Mixxer to be considered for apprenticeship.
I think it would not dilute usefulness but add more competition in the Mixx. Give users something to strive for.

Well then I'm calling Luke. I would have said Anikin but then I remembered he turns evil and becomes Darth Vader We are not amused.
