Mixxers, quite honestly some of you are starting to piss me off. I know Mixx is not MY site, but I like to hang out there and try to help keep the BS to a minimum.  I am still faced with the issue of “Photo” section abuse. Guys, cut the crap and keep the photo section clean. It is not a section for you to abuse.

If you have a story you want to submit, put it in the story section and insert a thumbnail, NOT THE PHOTO SECTION! It is getting stupid and out of hand and I will report them all day. And yes Mixxers, I put THIS post in the “Photo” section to make a point!

The crew over at Maybe Hip have got together with Mixx.com and launched a new video web series called “Your News Mixx“! It’s a very exciting time for Mixx.com and the Mixx community. With the promise of a new video podcast every week, “Your News Mixx” is something that we can all look forward to.

So let’s just look at the elephant in the room shall we? A lot of community members have approached Greg and I asking our thoughts, if Your News Mixx was stepping on our toes. We don’t see it that way at all.  While Social Blend has always been an audio podcast with no rules and no respect for authority, we have to remind everyone that these are two totally different shows. With all the F-Bombs and craziness on Social Blend it’s not exactly a family show. Your News Mixx differs from Social Blend in a more family friendly and SFW approach.

So we welcome the new video podcast, wish them all the best, and hope to work with them in the future by providing our community the best Mixx Media possible!

People have often looked at Mixx.com as the “Little Social Media site that could” or have even said things like “I don’t think they’ll make it.” To those of us who know better, we shouldn’t have been so surprised when Chris McGill and his awesome crew at Mixx, threw down the gauntlet to other sites, and began to evolve Mixx into something others have been looking to for ideas.

Mixx was the first to have a photo section, the first to offer their community awards, the first to let it’s users customize their own start page, and the first to not send out a C&D when members of a community start their own dedication site complete with forum *cough* Mixxingbowl *cough*. The list keeps growing and growing.

It’s no secret that the crew at Mixx.com are good friends of the Mixxingbowl team, so yes, we have heard of new things in planning at Mixx as well as how things are going behind the scenes. So when Chris and Kerry first told Greg and I about TweetMixx and how it works, we had no doubt it would do well, but we had no idea it would do THIS well!

TweetMixx is an awesome tool being used my many different companies and foundations. TweetMixx aggregates tweets from specific people about a specific niche, company, or even sports team onto a Tweetmixx channel. Not only does the organization have it’s own channel but a TweetMixx widget it can place on their site. Now these organizations can have their own “Heralds” assigned from Twitter, and people can see what is going on, or what is to come from that organization.

With TweetMixx launched Mixx landed some great organizations and some big names. When I was told about the NHL or National Hockey Legue, I almost fell out of my chair. Then came some NBA teams, and then the NBA itself! So it was no shocker to see the 2010 Olympics with is own TweetMixx channel.

Not only can you find sports and entertainment, from the Jonas Brothers to Deadliest Catch, but the Mixx team decided to also use their new creation to do some good in the world.  In the aftermath of the devastating earthquake in Haiti, TweetMixx began playing a roll in both recovery efforts by keeping people informed as to what was going on as well as an outlet for relief workers to post important information as to what is needed. The Aid for Haiti TweetMixx channel is still going strong today!

The Aid for Haiti channel isn’t the only channel in TweetMixx working for a great cause. When Chris got a phone call from Ashton Kutcher wanting a TweetMixx channel for the Demi and Ashton Foundation or DNA, Mixx was more then happy to sign on!

So now I begin to wonder; what’s next? I know the crew at Mixx always has something up their sleeve. The one thing that I have a small chuckle about each time it crosses my mind, is how with such a small crew, Mixx continues to come up with fresh and better ideas than their competition.

So I wanted to try a little experiment. I am submitting this to Mixx so we ALL can have a little thread outside of all the other issues, to banter back and forth on. It’s not about the votes, just commenting and pulling our community back together.

Also please remember, everyone is invited to Mixxingbowl.com/forums for humor or random discussions. The Bowl was built by community members for the community. If we wanna keep it on Mixx though, we can.

I feel kinda two sided here. One side says: “Just let it end.” The other side says: “Dude you should really say something.” So it’s obvious which side I listened to.

There is a huge conspiracy theory going on in the community that has left many of us divided. Some care, some don’t. I personally think it is ridiculous when the facts are presented. Two community members, both with huge followings have had a serious falling out. While one was banned and the other remains, some people are calling for some sort of punishment for the other. While people are always going to feed off drama, some people should step back and take a clear look at things.

1. Unless you are really good you are never totally Anonymous.

2. Never link yourself or your so called anonymity to your real life identity. (This includes your avatar).

The person whose identity was revealed also threatened possible legal action against the user that did the outing, even though the outer deleted the comment, the outed was highly pissed. But let’s be truthful here, it was the faulted of the person who was outed. The person outed never said “Hey if you find my true identity, don’t tell anyone.” Also the outed individual had back-linked a ton of info to their blog.

Here’s an example, some friends and I were discussing this on Skype . One of the people we were talking to was a web professional. We told them what had happened in the community, just that someone was outed. He asked who, we told him the name (the so-called anonymous id) and in 30 seconds he was looking at this persons real name and their LinkedIn page. It was that easy, just by looking at the anonymous id, the web pro found a ton of info.

You never know, especially in a diverse techie community, who is capable of what. So unless you want your business out on front street, don’t let it’s toe hit the pavement. Also don’t cry foul and get the community in an uproar over your own short falls. Then again, some people are chrismatic enough to have blind sheeple following them.

Ok I am getting real sick and tired of all the pansy ass whining and crying. Mixx admins have enough crap to deal with instead of listening to your whining and bitching that “Said User” called you a name, or “Said User” is spreading propaganda. Quit being a bunch of pussies!

If you will look on each thread there happens to be an area for each comment for you to mark a comment as “Fighting Words”. Don’t wanna see what someone has to say? BLOCK THEM! Don’t wanna see “Fighting Words”? You can do that in your settings.

Trolls are gonna happen with growth. It is going to happen and WILL CONTINUE. Your consistent pissing, crying, and moaning has caused the Mixx admins to take away focus from growing the site, to powdering your asses and kissing your boo boos. That is Bullshit! Grow the hell up. It’s the Internet!

Your popularity on a site is not going to matter during your life time.  I don’t see Greg or myself stopping on the street to sign fucking autographs, and neither will your dumb asses. Quit your bitching! Block what you don’t want to see, and let the Mixx admins do their job and concentrate on the site, not babysitting.

It’s no secret I have been slipping on the Meet the Super Mixxers posts. I have been extremely busy. I was thrilled when Julie (Calinazaret) offered to help out.  I was also thrilled when she told me who this post was going to be about. Fellow Marine Corps brother Katmicjus. Thanks for doing this interview Julie, and Katmicjus, you rock brother! Semper Fi!

Katmicjus is one of the most interesting people I’ve met on mixx. He can be found in the front lines of some heated debates, and I was glad to catch up with him to get to know him better. He is a very proud father, US Marine, son, brother and friend who believes the USA should be available for all people.

Where are you from?

I am originally from upstate New York, the land of Rip Van Winkle. Surrounded by Mountains and lakes. I left to study in Denmark when I was 17. I have been on the move every since. I have lived in several countries and many states.

What do you do when not Mixxing?

I like gardening, fishing and people watching (go to the mall and sit and watch how people behave. lol…some forget they are in public. Watching them in walmart is hilarious.) I am a Project Manager, International Supply Chain Logistics Manager. I have an AA (liberal Arts), BA (International Politics/Relations-honors program at the UN), BA in International business and an MBA in International Business.

What are some causes you’re passionate about? Pet Peevs?

Corrupt/Abusive Police officers and abusive public officials. My pet peevs are really negative people or racists. People who think they are smarter than they are, but have no clue how uninformed they really are…. etc. People who speak of the “world” but have never been 15 miles from their home.

What do you like most about Mixx, and who do you admire?

I like positive people stories on mixx. I admire Kat136, VioletPlanet and McCaffertyhimself. They helped me the most when I first came on Mixx. They also keep me in check when the Marine comes out fighting on certain threads. lol.

What does your user name mean?

My user name the first three letters of my children’s names.

Oh Arian sweet Arian. We at the Mixxingbowl and other places around the web LOVE this girl. Arian is a great Mixxer and a joy to get to know. One of the sweetest people you will ever meet, and she will also school you in the fine arts of comic books and geek culture.  We have had her on Social Blend a few times and always enjoy her company.

Arian currently holds the record for most replies in her introduction thread over in the Mixxingbowl forums.  I have got to take a personal stab at her right now as well. My dear Arian, the Bat Symbol never looked so good .

I shot some questions to Arian so those that don’t know, can learn more about her.

Where are you from?

I was born in Maryland, USA, but I’ve lived back and forth between the States and the UK, and a few years ago I moved to Manchester, England with my two kids and permanently reside here.

What do you do for a living?

Not much.  I try to avoid leaving the house as much as possible.

I’ve done web and graphic design in the past, been a techie, done network security, administration, medical records…

What are your interests?

Wow, that’s a loaded question.  Everything?   Tattoos (I have five, I want MORE).  Computers.  I’m a solid Apple fan, but I used Linux for years after abandoning Windows in the late 90s.  Um, comics, as anyone who knows me knows, SciFi, most particularly Dr Who and Star Trek.  Reading.  Ancient history.  One of the first things I remember setting out to study was the Maya, and then the Egyptians, and it kinda just coalesced into one great big subject.  Graham Hancock and Zahi Hawass are two of my favorite people alive.

What do you like most about Mixx?

I like the communication, both with the community and the people running the show.  And I love the Mixxing Bowl.

What is in “Your Mixx?”

Everything?  It’s a really long list.  Apple stuff, socialism (I am a socialist, thank you, and proud of it), breaking news, stupid stuff from florida, tech and geek stuff…

Who are your Heros?

I don’t really have any.  But there are people who have shaped my life, outside of my family, who are the strongest influence in my life, and mostly in a positive way.

Richard Dawkins, for his courage to stand up and call out religion on its flaws.  I’m not criticizing all the great people out there with religious leanings, but I admire his inability to tolerate religious bullshit, and to back it up with solid fact.  Why yes, I am atheist

So this cat is just all around cool. Steaprok hit the scene early when Mixx launched. He has been hanging around dropping solid comments and participates in the Mixxingbowl . A lot of times he seems to pop in from out of freaking no where, crushes it with a comment and the disappears again.

Chilling in Miami with his wife (Yogini) Manny, (Steaprok) is an all around cool guy and one person everyone on Mixx should follow.
