I send this via BCC to keep your emails private, but I wanted to share this truly historic and momentous occasion with friends. Some of you may have received this via email, sorry, but not everyone I know reads the bowl. This moment transcends your party affiliation, vote, race, creed, nationality, religion, political perspectives (thanks gbarberi), or any other bond you use to separate yourself from others.  This day is the true realization of our Founding Father's America; a successful result of a grand democratic experiment we call the United States of America. America began in 1776 with the philosophies of individual rights and the right of revolution to "institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness".   In December 1865 it evolved further when Abraham Lincoln ended slavery and the words "All men are created equal..." became more pronounced and true.  America further manifested its destiny in 1920 with women's suffrage which shed the confines of what "men" means ...

Its alive! Its alive!

  The previous submission is like a month old. Fair game, I'll submit mine since the original died then. Anyone guilty of saying this? Go ahead. Raise your hands because we've all "thunk" from time to time when we find an awesome submission and after a brief search we find that its way older than a week. We've been trained by other sites that if its more than 24-48 hours, that the submission is DOA (Dead on Arrival) and its okay to submit your story to see if it stands up to the test of time. Well not so at Mixx. From a personal experience as well as one from a Mixx friend, I've found that no time limit exists for Mixx submissions. In one case the story was 8 days old and I shared it with all my friends. I was sharing it only because I thought it was a great story, not to make it popular. In addition, I didn't think it would become popular because it was more than a week old. You can imagine my surprise when the next day I found that submission on the Popular Page. ...

January 24: Social Media’s “Digg Day”.

Given the events of the last 12 hours or so and the HUGE influx of Digg revolt, cap/recapp, Digg "should do" submissions, I have now christened January 24 as Social Media Digg Day. Relax though. No one gets the day off and as far as I can tell there aren't going to be any celebrations, except from Jay Adelson and Kevin Rose (they dodged a bullet or 80). The town folk have put down their pitchforks and torches. In the same likeness as those who made an outcry over Iraq, Katrina,the Scooter Libby trial, and Attorney firings everything has been fixed with a "Trust Us". Awesome, everything is better because those who caused the problem and ignored the flames are the same ones we're trusting to fix it and call the fire brigade. Digg is an awesome site, and once had a phenomenal community, but now I feel that that community has Battered Social Media User Syndrome (BSMUS). You keep getting smacked by your community, but you still defend it by staying on and when a revolt is in its super-critical phase, the owners show up and it fizzles. We are ALL guilty of it. I won't get on the soapbox until I admit to it as well. Blind voting. I'm Brian, and I'm a blind voter, but I'm cutting back. *** HI BRIAN!! *** We just don't have enough time in the day to read EVERYTHING everyone , even our friends, have submitted so we just give them a courtesy up vote and move along. If only one or two people did it the problem wouldn't be so bad, but one or two people don't do it. Scenario One goes something like this: A new submission is posted with the title "Watch out for Explosions!" and a description that goes something like "Since 9/11, airport security has been tightened and regulated with iron fists all over the world. I have given up many a dangerous item before I boarded a plane, hair gel and nail clippers both. I don’t know if I feel any safer, …' So you go by the title and description alone and think that this is something people should see, but you didn't bother looking at the actual article. In Part one of this series, we took a look at the Mixx being a copy cat of Digg and how that argument, well isn't an argument. In this part, as promised, we'll play with some numbers and look at a little data analysis to answer that age old question; Is Digg really bigger than Mixx, or any other social news site? Spend enough time on a few technology blogs and social media blogs and eventually you'll run into the "Mixx vs Digg vs Reddit vs Alien vs the Predator" article. Personally I'll put my money on either the Alien or the Predator, but lets leave them out so we can level the playing field. The comments on that hypothetical article tend to dismiss Mixx because its "small" and digg is so much bigger. Here's a small sample (actual comments): Many Digg users are leaving Digg to join Mixx? Votes: What’s the secret sauce?

Note: Advanced Players may want to skip this board If anyone has ever "played" in the world of social media before, they know one thing matters more than anything else:, the almighty vote. Up votes can sometimes make you feel like a lottery winner and a down vote can make you feel like you were turned down for your high school prom by the second ugliest girl(or guy) in school. The first ugliest was already taken. While perusing Mixx today, I came across this comment ... why is my average vote 2 maybe 3 on the rare occasion 17. Its seems there are about ten MIXXers who always end up in the top 20 popular post and any thing they post gets at least 20 to 30 votes. Mind you I like a lot of what the top MIXXers post and vote for them anytime I read and like their post. So what do I need to do to get votes I know I post good stuff... Since Mixx hit the public scene about two months ago it has manged to ruffle its fair share of feathers from the "fan-boys" of other social media sites. It seems the criticisms attack on two different fronts. Lets look at the first front, the Copy Cat issue, to see if we can't start sorting this thing out and bringing some closure to it.
