Social Blend is calling out to all unsigned bands out there on the web!  In late 2008, we started a new feature on the podcast, in which we selected a Band of the Week.  At the end of each episode, we highlight and discuss the band, and play one of their tracks. Are you in a band?  Do you know someone who is? Then we want to hear from you! Yesterday in this post Mixx.com announced it turned 100, days that is. We here at the MixxingBowl didn't feel it was fair they announced an even numbered birthday, so we're calling dibs on the number 99. Yep, that's right, the MixxingBowl is 99 days old , technically its 100 days old, but it took a day to get everything in place. The Blog 2 social blend podcasts 1 social blend piss cast 26 useless posts One guy to pay the bill (so some people owe some rent). ;) So we want to give Mixx a big pat on the back for coming this far and proving they can be a player in Social Media. In an effort to try to look more **cough ** professional ** cough ** we're trying out this new theme. The idea was to give the Bowl more of a webzine look and make it easier to see the different types of content posted here. We're still in the process of cleaning up our room to match some of the requirements of this theme so you may notice some items shifting here and there between visits. Let us know what you think.

Female personality needed for the SocialBlend. While its fun to shoot the breeze with the fellas, we think we need a female perspective on the topics we discuss. Seeking: Women 18 years or older. English speaking. (Only because Joe speaks Southern and Greg speaks Australian) Must be able to swim (never know). Fun, opinionated, not afraid to talk, and a great sense of humor Knowledgeable with social media, national and world events, and everything else (You don't have to be an expert) What you need: Computer (duh!) Skype Show details: We record on the weekends (typically) so you have to be available then for an hour. Recording times change so you'd have to be flexible. Mixx now allows people to disable sharing now, and I've subscribed to unsubscribe to groups and individual shares; for now. I began to get inundated with so many emails even Gmail wasn't helping me sift through the 200-300 emails daily. To be specific the following two options have been disabled in my account: "an item is added to one of my groups." "Allow other users to share Mixx items with me" I'm still notified when you add me as a friend (if choose to do so) as well as when you reply to me in a comment. In addition to removing myself from groups, I will also no longer be submitting to groups as well. I think groups were a great idea by the Mixx guys, but I think they may be used primarily as a "Help me get this to the front page" tool. I also was receiving way too many emails containing topics that I am simply not interested in: Marketing, SEO, Search, Blogging about Blogging, and the occasional Hello Kitty Darth Vader. I still check the "YourMixx Friends" almost exclusively because it refreshes at a nice pace and its always new content (minus the ...
