We continue the testosterone infused sausage fest with the 43rd edition of Social Blend, with Bdog2g2 joining Greg and Jay to cause trouble! During this episode, we all talk a lot of random shit, because we couldn’t be bothered following the show notes. This is what happens when Reem isn’t around to keep us in line.
We talk a little politics with the recent SNL coverage of the election campaigns, and then dive into discussion of the Freddy Krueger prequel, in which Billy Bob Thornton plays the claw man himself. The discussion evolves into Hollywood and their current obsession over reboots – and we look into some related movie prospects including The Man of Steel, The Dark Knight Returns, Supermax, and Ghostbusters.
As we progress through our rants, we all begin to exhume the bile left over from some recent trolling on our favorite site, along with our thoughts on the justifiable and righteous consequences issued upon the individuals in question. This also leads to a bit of talk about Mixx’s Time Out, as well as the recent Digg bannings.
Our community focus for the week, fitting due to Halloween, is Horror in the Mixx, and two of our stories of the week are The End of America selected by Greg, and how smelly farts can reduce your blood pressure, as selected by Brian.
Our user focus for this week is Jdow – and as usual we talk of some Comments of the Week and jump into the Mixx Lounge.

Well in fairness, both Rambo and Rocky were nostalgic reboots and proved it can work.
Lots of writers have contributed if not make the Star Wars EU more epic, it’s not the tinkering that’s going to screw this up. It’s Hollywood producers. Ghostbusters got tweaked already and Extreme Ghostbusters was awesome!
The thing with the Batman-Nolan thing is that it works because you know when a Batman movie just gets decent, BAM! you’re in.
The same can’t be said for Daredevil and Ghost Rider. No offense to the writer. I haven’t watched both movies but people tout the Director’s Cut of Daredevil based on what I’ve read about it.
The thing with the Devil and the Cursed One was that they’re BANG! characters without the following of like the Hulk and if you can’t franchise it, you kill the series so it puts added pressure for both the scriptwriter as well as the director to pull something out.
There’s just nothing special about those characters other than their continuing angst. Even Spider-man wouldn’t really be anything special if it wasn’t about the freaking Spider-Man.
Bdog try Dark City. Haven’t watched it but it’s been compared to a lower budget Matrix movie by many reviewers.

Hey – Mixx is now close to 900 Alexa Ranking! But onto things equally as exciting – the election…. I live in Oregon which is a state in which you vote by mail – so I’m done now. I sure hope everyone gets out on Tuesday and makes sure their vote is counted. Let’s see where we are on Wednesday morning. It had better not be a horror story.
