Social Blend on 34th St: No Miracles Here, Only Nude Fire Extinguishers

The main focus of the show is on Mixx.com, yet focuses on other sites and contenders in the social media field.
Social Blend kicks off its 34th show with a tribute to nude fire extinguishers, while resisting the urge to be titled something in relation to “Rule 34”. If you don’t know what that means, Google it, because we sure as hell are not explaining it!
This week, we discuss some of the recent changes to Mixx, and bring up the Mixxing Bowl blog post entitled “The Ultimate Challenge”. Our Community Focus this week is again on two communities: Anti-War and The War Room. The community discussion moves onto some other issues, including a documentary Reem suggests, called Promises; and a clip from a Henry Rollins spoken word show in Israel recommended by Greg.
For stories of the week, Greg starts off with a discussion on why he (and I supposed Jay as well) should watch the Olympics more often. Neo’s passport apparently expired on 9/11 and we take a look at a peculiar sign in some workplace somewhere in the world.
Reem disappoints Harry Potter fans (that’s “Potter” with a “P”), and Jay discusses the latest sighting of Kite Superman in Florida. Brian’s story choice this week is of an Olympian dropping the good ol’ F bomb on BBC TV.
We also discuss the news of The Dark Knight passing Star Wars, becoming the second biggest grossing movie of all time; and Brian discusses the word of a new Friend Feed beta coming soon. Greg also brings up recent breaking news on Ning losing its credibility.
Our User Focus is Marlene81 this week – and as usual we talk of some Comments of the Week and jump into the Mixx Lounge.
