Social Blend the XXVIIth - Communities, Wildlife, & Carlin, oh my!
Presented by Greg Davies (cGt2099 from The-TrukstoP.com), Jay Fowler (SilentJay74 from JuicySnake.com), Brian Hill (Bdog2g2 from MixxingBowl.com), and Reem Abeidoh (Nomadelle from ReemAbeidoh.com), the Social Blend examines the latest news and opinions hitting the world of social media. The main focus of the show is on Mixx.com, yet focuses on other sites and contenders in the social media field.
The latest edition of Social Blend sees us joined by special guest Danielle Brigida from the National Wildlife Federation, who talks to us about how effective it has been in reaching out to people via social media. She also tells us about the new NWF Mixx Community – which you should seriously check out.
This week also sees Brian aka Bdog rejoining us for an episode, while Reem takes off for the weekend. We discuss the launch of Mixx Communities, Jay highlights a video submitted by Reem called “The Website is Down”, and Brian talks about how one suicidal man caused 11 deaths and a train derailment. Danielle’s story choice for this episode was Florida buying the missing link of the Everglades for $1.7 billion; while Greg goes on a rant about how the Photos section at Mixx should be used.
In this episode we also pay tribute to the great George Carlin, and have a quick look at some MySpace Douchebaggery. Our User Focus is Tunisian Guy this week – and as usual we talk of some Comments of the Week and jump into the Mixx Lounge.

When it comes to the environment, it is not any much better on the flipside guys. While you guys general consent that people are spoiled and selfish, in the case of less fortunate countries, people are more concerned in putting food on their tables, getting their basic rights, voting, freedom, and generally getting their necks from under the iron boots of their governments. Environment issues will, and rightly so, take a back seat.
Ok Rami. So when none of us can breathe because of the carbon dioxide in the air, and none of us can eat because plants no longer grow in the heat, and we’re all starving to death, you think we’ll worry about rights?
